The team’s charge is to define learning objectives and identify strategies for implementing IDE into the curricula of our undergraduate degree programs. The specifics of the charge and deliverables are as follows:
- Develop a “core” set of learning objectives focused on Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE) and cultural competence for all CAFNR students. These learning objectives will ultimately be incorporated into all 12 undergraduate degree programs as determined by the faculty in the respective programs.
- Review and assess successful curricula designs for incorporating the learning objectives across the curricula (e.g., required course(s) approved by faculty – similar to WI program, scaffolding the learning objectives through several courses – similar to the success some programs have had implementing career-readiness objectives into their curriculum). In the end, we assure that the learning objectives are an integral component of all our degree programs, but the decision on how to incorporate and teach remains a program faculty decision.
- By October 1, 2020 or earlier, recommend to the CAFNR Courses & Curricula committee the core IDE learning objectives for adoption and recommended curricula implementation options for program faculty to consider. This will provide time for program faculty to plan for implementation in the 2021-22 academic year. Individuals on this curricula team will be critical from the development phase to the implementation phase.
